Ben’s mom contacted me and wanted to get some shots of Ben just being his 2 year old self, which I absolutely loved! Photographing a child in their own environment without coaxing him to pose? Awesome! Then when she asked if she could bring their beloved pup Butters (ok, he’s 7, but whose counting?), I was even more excited! This summer in Tampa has been absolutely saturated with rain, rain, and MORE RAIN! I was nervous that we might have had to reschedule our session because it was monsooning all day long. It finally cleared up a couple of hours before our session, leaving gigantic muddy puddles in its wake. So we started our session taking candid shots of Ben playing on a playground. By the time he was done playing, he was a little muddy so I had a bright idea. Why not let Ben jump in the puddles? What’s more fun for a kid than that?! Ben’s mom and dad were totally up for it. When life gives you rain, jump in the puddles! That’s exactly what Ben did, and he loved every second of it. These ended up bring my favorite shots of the session because his emotions were just so innocent and genuine. We as adults need to take a page out of children’s books and learn to make the best out of a yucky situation and just jump in the puddles and have fun!! Here are some of my favorites from our session. Enjoy!
