Don’t let these pictures deceive you!  Honeymoon Island provided a sun-drenched beach for us to frolic in, but man was it cold this evening!  Sometimes, especially with families vacationing here from out of state, we have to make the best of the weather since they’re only here for a short window of time.  As long as it’s not raining or gloomy, we are go to go!  For some reason, Florida was having an identity crisis this week.  It was uncommonly cold for this late in March.  C’mon Florida, get the memo!

I have to say though, this family completely rocked their session even though I caught some of the littles shivering in between shots.  Don’t worry though, I have a system for these types of crazy weather sessions!  First- I keep everyones blood warm by moving constantly!  Running, jumping, racing, dancing, throwing up in the air – all of these movements not only distract us from the chilly wind, but also make for some amazing images.  Also, I tell mom to bring jackets to the session.  When I’m not shooting the entire family at once, other family members can stand off to the side and warm back up in their jackets until it’s their turn to shine again. But honestly, this Chicago family totally handled it.  My Floridian blood was freezing and hiding under a few hundred layers while they were just happy to be on a beach in March.  I think they told me that it was 25 degrees that evening in their home town.  Yeah, no thank you.  I’ll take a hundred layers at the beach any day over that type of cold weather!

E Family, I am so happy you braved the cold to come hang out with me on my favorite beach.  Now come back soon, ya hear!  I can almost promise it will be warmer next time!
